About the Author

Born and raised in Metro-Detroit, Michigan, Emily Swinney has dreamed of being a writer since she was eight years old. It had started when Emily saw her older sister hunched over a notebook at her desk. When Emily had asked her what she was writing, the response she had gotten was simple: a book. A spark was lit, and Emily decided she wanted to write one, too.

That was all it took to fuel the lifelong passion of being an author. Twenty years later, Emily is releasing her debut novel, Birth of an Alder Tree, with plans for many books to come.

When not in her writing cave, Emily enjoys reading, spending time with friends and family, cuddling her cats, and drinking exorbitant amounts of coffee.
